Rating scale
The highest rating in the catalogue. Individual games and settings can still produce different results.
Many games are playable. Demanding titles may need adjustments or have issues.
Only selected, less demanding games are playable.
Not a practical choice for this console based on the available assessment.
Data sources
Hardware specifications are maintained using manufacturer information and published reviews. Some emulation ratings are inferred from chipset classes. Similar hardware is a useful indication, but cooling, firmware and emulators can make a difference. Sources are shown where they have been recorded in the catalogue. Source references are not yet complete for every device.
Prices
Price ranges are for budget planning. They are not live prices, binding offers or availability guarantees. Storage options, sellers, shipping and possible import charges affect the final cost. The budget filter uses the lower end of each range.
Game-specific limitations
Playability and controls depend on the game, firmware and emulator. Available controls matter for 3D games; DS and 3DS also require a suitable dual-screen layout. Recent tests of individual games provide more specific evidence than a general console rating.
Data limitations
Missing specifications are marked as not recorded. The catalogue does not cover the entire market. Results for individual games cannot be generalised, particularly for Switch and PS2.
